What is mud jacking?
Mud jacking is a process that raises sunken concrete back to its original level. This unique process will restore sunken or uneven concrete slabs close to their original grade and alignment with surrounding concrete slabs.
Why is ECL the best choice for your mudjacking needs?
ECL uses a premium quality grout mixture of topsoil, sand, and Portland cement that is extremely low shrink and 100% stable. We provide fast, professional and courteous service to all areas in the state of Illinois and Wisconsin. We also provide a one-year warranty for all of our work. We perform Mud Jacking for all applications: Residential, Industrial, Commercial and Municipal.
How does Mudjacking and Concrete Repair work?
A number of 1.5" to 2" holes are drilled in the sunken concrete. A slurry is pumped through the holes. When the void under the sunken concrete is filled with the mixture, the concrete will raise. The holes are patched with shrink proof grout and he surface is ready to use.
What are the advantages of mudjacking?
The cost of mud jacking averages a fraction of the cost of replacement. Mud jacking is faster, cleaner, and more cost effective. Mud jacking is usually a permanent fix to your concrete problems. ECL is the only company in the industry that will pressure wash all renovated areas free of charge.
Is this a new way to fix cracked and sunken concrete?
Mud jacking is a common repair method that has been used for many years, mostly in the Midwest region of the U.S. However, professional mud jack contractors can now be found in just about every city in the U.S. The concept is very simple, but should only be attempted by professionals, as it requires experienced and specialized equipment to get the work just right. It should be noted that ECL is a 28 year old company - literally a pioneer in the Mud Jacking field.
Why has my concrete settled or settling?
There are many different reasons why concrete areas are prone to settling. Sometimes in new construction, the backfill around the foundation is not compacted properly. This will create voids and the concrete may settle. The backfill around utilities, such as a sewer line that was replaced, will also settle over time.
If the slab is on a hill and water starts running into an open crack, control joint, or alongside the slab, this will eventually wash out the supporting soil and cause the slab to settle and crack.
You may have a large vehicle, or pile of landscaping material, etc, that is left on the slab for a prolonged period of time. This will accelerate the settlement process.
What's better - Concrete Leveling or Replacement?
The cost of leveling usually represents a savings of 50%-70% over replacement. The leveling process can be completed and ready for use in a matter of hours. No Municipal Building Permits are required.
Can any concrete slab be raised or leveled?
Generally, yes. However when large areas have crumbled or deteriorated, replacing the concrete may be the only option.
Our concrete has "raised up". Can concrete slabs be lowered?
Generally, no. However adjacent slabs can be "Feathered" or "Floated" to eliminate trip hazards. This is also true for tree roots that have caused concrete slabs to raise.
What effect does it have on my existing landscaping?
ECL guarantees no damage to your landscaping, lighting or irrigation designs.

The core with the paver top would then be cemented back into the holes .The completed job would look as if we were never there.
What can be done about my yard sinking against my seawall?
If you have aging seawalls that have either lawn or concrete poured up against them and you notice them sinking, you have several options If your slab has settled, you probably have years of wear and cracks on the face of the seawall that allows water to wash the soil away as the tides come and go. This has most likely created a large void underneath your walkway or deck. This could result in a collapse and should be addressed immediately! If your lawn show signs of sinking we can inject our slurry underneath the existing grass, gravel or plants and bring them back to level without effecting your landscape, lighting or irrigation.
